Dental Implants in Dubai
A long-term way to replace one tooth or several, placed and restored in the clinic by our implantologist.
Dental implants at Ibn Al Haitham Medical Centre
Dental implants replace missing teeth with a small titanium post placed in the jawbone, topped with a crown, bridge or denture. At Ibn Al Haitham Medical Centre in Umm Hurrair, Dubai, implant treatment is planned and placed by Dr. Rim Akrama, whose work focuses on implantology and cosmetic dentistry. Consultations are in Arabic or English.
An implant can replace a single tooth, replace several teeth with an implant-supported bridge, or hold a full denture firmly in place.
Who dental implants suit
Implants suit most adults who have lost one or more teeth and have healthy gums and enough jawbone to hold the implant. Some situations need extra planning:
- Gum disease, which needs treating first
- Low bone volume, where bone grafting may be discussed
- Smoking, which slows healing
- Medical conditions or medicines that affect healing. Tell your dentist about them at the first visit
If an implant is not advisable, your dentist explains alternatives such as a bridge or a denture.
Implant treatment step by step
- Consultation and assessment. Your teeth, gums and bite are examined, with X-rays or other imaging to check the bone.
- Treatment plan. The number of implants, the type of restoration and the expected timeline are explained before you decide.
- Implant placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic in a single appointment.
- Healing. Over the following months the bone bonds with the implant, and review appointments check progress. A temporary tooth can often be worn in the meantime.
- Final restoration. A crown, bridge or denture is made to match your other teeth and fitted onto the implant.
What the treatment includes
- Assessment of bone, gum health and bite
- Implant placement under local anaesthetic
- Healing review appointments
- Crown, bridge or denture on the implant
- Aftercare and maintenance guidance
How long it takes
Placing the implant takes one appointment. Most of the treatment time is healing, which usually takes a few months before the final crown is fitted. Cases that need gum treatment or bone grafting first take longer. Your dentist gives you a timeline for your case at the planning stage.
Aftercare
- Clean around the implant twice a day as you would natural teeth, and clean between teeth with floss or interdental brushes
- Follow the soft-food and hygiene advice given after placement
- Avoid smoking, especially while the implant heals
- Keep regular check-ups so the implant and gums can be monitored

Questions patients ask
How long does implant treatment take?
Placement itself is a single appointment. Healing before the final crown usually takes a few months, and your dentist will give you a timeline for your case.
Am I a suitable candidate?
Suitability depends on bone volume and gum health. Both are assessed at the first consultation, and alternatives are explained if an implant is not advisable.
Is it painful?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. Most patients manage afterwards with simple pain relief.
How long do dental implants last?
With good hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last many years. The crown on top may need replacing over time through normal wear.
Can implants replace all my teeth?
Yes. Implants can support a full-arch bridge or a full denture. Your dentist assesses whether this suits you.
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Coverage depends on your plan, and many plans limit or exclude implants. Our team checks with your insurer before treatment.
